Athletic Scholarships for U.S. Colleges
Every year, tens of thousands of student-athletes around the world compete for athletic scholarships to colleges and universities in the United States. Hundreds of young athletes from Israel also pursue this opportunity each year, particularly in sports such as basketball, soccer, swimming, track & field, tennis, water polo, and volleyball.
An athletic scholarship in the U.S. allows student-athletes to earn a university degree while training and competing at a high level in their chosen sport. American colleges offer some of the world’s finest training facilities, coaching staffs, sports medicine programs, and athletic support services. After graduation, many athletes continue to professional careers while holding a valuable academic degree.
Many Olympic athletes—including numerous Olympic champions—have developed their careers while competing in U.S. college athletics. This demonstrates the exceptional standard of college sports in the United States.
The recruitment, admissions, and eligibility process for U.S. colleges is complex and requires careful planning, attention to detail, and strict adherence to deadlines. Every year, many talented athletes lose scholarship opportunities simply because they misunderstand the process or overlook important eligibility requirements, particularly those related to amateur status, which is essential for receiving an athletic scholarship and competing in college sports.
In recent years, the eligibility process has become even more challenging as regulations have evolved. This is especially true for Israeli student-athletes, whose mandatory military service can significantly affect NCAA and other college athletics eligibility. The situation is often made more difficult because many college coaches and athletic departments are unfamiliar with how these rules apply to international applicants, making it hard for them to properly guide prospective student-athletes.
Sport Scholarships Dojo specializes in every stage of the athletic scholarship process—from the initial evaluation through college admission and final eligibility approval. We stay up to date with the constantly changing regulations of organizations such as the NCAA and NAIA, allowing us to provide guidance based on the latest rules.
Many eligibility regulations were originally designed for American students and can unintentionally create additional challenges for international applicants, particularly those from Israel. Successfully navigating these regulations requires specialized knowledge and experience. Strategies that worked several years ago may no longer be effective today.
Our goal at Sport Scholarships Dojo is to guide student-athletes through every step of the process—from the moment they decide to pursue college athletics in the United States until they receive their final eligibility approval and officially join their college team.

Our professionalism and reputation are reflected in feedback we receive from college coaches. One U.S. college coach wrote:
“Believe it or not, Ofer, I usually don’t like working with recruiting agencies. In fact, out of the ten international athletes I’ve recruited, your athlete is the only one who came through an agency rather than a personal connection. That says a lot about the trust I have in you.”
